Happy Chinese New Year!
Picture of the Day] Unfortunately none because I wasn't able to make it out to the parade! WEATHER! CURSE YOU!
Quote of the Day] "Never tell everything at once."
Yay! It's the Chinese New Year. Year of the rabbit. :D I have to say I am probably the worst about doing traditional stuff during New Years even though I really want to. Usually when New Years comes around, Chinese people will make sure their homes are absolutely spotless, shower the day before New Years, eat certain foods, abstain from speaking swear words or homophones (the most famous being the word for the number four sounding similar to the word for death), and in general, having a great time burning firecrackers, dancing, and celebrating.
The parade was still on in Chinatown, but unfortunately I did not attend. Backlogged on homework for multiple classes (why do the teachers give us so much? :P) and stressed out about an upcoming review, I decided it would be better to stay in and study rather than heading out to the crowds for some snowed dragon dancers. :( I hope everything went well for them though!! It's going to be a great year. :)
Happy New Year!,

Snow-pocolypse

Picture of the Day] My b/f found this article online that showed a now famous image of a New York street photoshopped to make it look like a zombie apocolypse!! Crazy.
Mood] Eager
Weather] Blizzarding. Thunder. Lightening. Snow. 60 MPH winds. You know how to goes.
Currently] In the office.
Quote of the Day] "A little more moderation would be good. Of course, my life hasn't exactly been one of moderation."
I'm sure that most of you have been flooded with pictures on the internet of the awesome set of snow days we've had. The blizzard, snow-pocolypse, snow-mageddon or whatever you want to call it has been amazing. My car is buried up to the top of the tires and the streets are barely plowed (people were trying to shovel out their cars all day). The sidewalks are like walking through tall grass that is more solid and a lot colder. It is so much fun, but also hard work! I get all tired and heated up whenever I go outside because of all the layers. At least it isn't too windy now. Before when the blizzard hit it was crazy!!!! I would've gotten carried away. Some of my friends headed to the lake and tried to walk on it, which really is quite dangerous, but they did it anyway. I kind of wish I had...just to say that I've done it, but I'm glad I didn't at the same time.
Oh weather,

Camras Scholars New Projects Ahead!
Picture of the Day] Non-existent! We are currently under construction with the website! It will be up soon!
Quote of the Day] "An invasion of armies can be resisted, but not an idea whose time has come."
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited about the awesome things that I have planned for this semester regarding Camras!!!! We just had our first meeting today and I think it went very well. My future projects for the Scholars include:
1. Camras Book of Wisdome (freshmen will write up a sentence or two about life experiences in their first year of college and maybe tack a picture with it)
2. Student Organization outreach (trying to form relationships with current student orgs and help them with their events that they have on campus)
3. Camras Interview Weekend (OF COURSE)
4. Giving back to former teachers by sending letters and posters
5. Creating videos and photos for Camras events and the campus as a whole
AND MUCH MORE!!!!!

Studio Begins
Picture of the Day] My site at Wrigley Field outlined in red!Mood] Frustrated
Weather] Sunny but freakin' cold! High 19 Degrees F
Currently] In the office
Quote of the Day] "The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover will be yourself."
So my studio this semester seems like it will be extremely challenging, but hopefully a lot of fun as well! I know that there is a ton of work that needs to be done because I am stretching myself into areas that I have not worked in for a while, especially 3d rendering. For my new studio I will be needing to do highly detailed 3d rendering of the different spaces. This is generally an issue for me because 1) Although I did take classes in rendering, it is not my favourite thing to do therefore it makes it difficult for me to really try and work on. I hope that I will be able to improve! Right now we are working on the conceptual stuff and then moving on to creating floor plans.
The project is a Boutique Hotel, which is basically like a themed hotel that has less rooms but provides many amenities. Our hotel is situated near Wrigley Field up north. There are many elements around the site, like the bars, residential, rooftop bleachers for the games, chain restaurants, and of course the Red Line L. There is a lot to take into consideration!
Excited but scared,

School oh school!
Pictures of the Day] New haircut.
Mood] Complacent
Weather] Sludgey...sort of...sleety...
Currently] In my apartment
Quote of the Day] "Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence."
So I have this new haircut, which really is just a manifestation of my hope to keep my hair relatively styled and tamed during the school year as it grows out from its previous punky spunky state. I am SOOO glad I branched out when I was younger and decided to try that short pixie cut! I think it's neat and it's so much easier to take care of!
School so far has been tough already. I have been trying to keep up with reading for psychology and history of landscape architecture already! The studio I managed to score is designing a Boutique Hotel in Wrigleyville. More to come about that in the next post! Suffice to say at the moment that school is well on its way and with it comes responsibilities at work, Camras, and acappella. *sighs* Oh the life of a college student!
Wiped out already,
Jaye

New Endeavor: The Ugly
Pictures of the Day] uegly dolls!!! Mr. Wiggums, Mr. Twinkles, and Miss Boo.
Mood] Inspired
Weather] Pretty warm actually...
Currently] At home
Quote of the Day] "Inspiration is wonderful when it happens, but the writer must develop an approach for the rest of the time... The wait is simply too long."
So I decided that beyond pillows I might try and work on developing little plushies that my sister and I could sell on our Etsy store. These are my first few versions. They are based off of the Ugly Doll brand of plushies that you might've seen in stores. I think I may need to develop more of a style for them. Right now they just kinda look....weird. So yeah, it'll take some work! Other than that though, it has been fun and it's nice using all of the scrap remains from the pillows that I make. I just wonder if anyone will buy them! I ended up giving these to my boyfriend and sisters. :) I gotta say, this Etsy store thing is exciting but I'm starting to freak out about whether or not we'll actually sell things! I HOPE SO!!!!!! We're going to do magnets, aprons, pillows, and a bunch of random crazy stuff so it doesn't go together, but it's nice. XD More updates to come on the actual store launch/success!
*wiggin' out*
